Honey is a sweet substance that contains vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. In addition, honey increases brain power and strengthens your immune system when taken. As a result of the many healthy properties of honey; it is considered to be good for your overall health.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HONEY ON NATURAL HAIR?
Humectant

Honey is a humectant. A humectant is a substance used to reduce the loss of moisture. In addition, a humectant also attracts and retains moisture. This is especially important in the natural hair community. Black hair has a tendency to be very dry. This is due to the natural oils that have not completed their travel down the curly / coily hair pattern. Adding honey in your natural hair routine keeps your natural hair hydrated.

Emollient

What is an emollient? An emollient is a substance that softens or moisturizes. Hair products that are created for natural hair generally contain emollients such as, Shea butter, oils or creams. Honey is an emollient that helps to soften the hair strands while keeping moisture in your hair. It is common for many naturals to add honey to their deep conditioner. I have added honey to my conditioner a number of times.

Pre-poo

Pre-poo is conditioning your hair before you shampoo it. This was a step that was done because many of the shampoo products stripped your hair of its natural oil. This was due to the harmful ingredients in the shampoo. Nowadays, there are many of shampoos that do not have those harmful ingredients.

In other cases, I have added honey to my conditioner when I am deep conditioning my hair. Generally, I add about a couple of teaspoons to my conditioner and then sit under a hooded dryer for about 10-20 minutes.

Shine

If you want to boost the shine in your hair then add honey to it. Adding honey is a great way to give your hair that natural shine. Honey is excellent for dry and damaged hair. Honey promotes hair growth. As a result of honey’s properties, honey helps condition hair. It also aids in reducing hair loss. A person with natural hair should add honey to their natural hair care routine.

Additionally, honey is inexpensive and available to everyone. There are many natural hair products that incorporate honey as one of its main ingredients. I have tried Mielle’s Pomegranate and Honey Twisting Souffle. I like them and they both smell wonderful! Here are a few natural hair products that contain honey.
