Diffusing Curly Natural Hair
WHY YOU SHOULD DIFF– USE YOUR CURLY NATURAL HAIR
On my journey as a natural I have learned many things. One of those things I have learned is what is diffusing and how to diffuse my natural hair. Prior to being natural I had never heard of diffusing. However, as time went on, I was learning about some of the best practices for maintaining curly natural hair.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DIFFUSING YOUR HAIR?
There are a number of benefits of diffusing your hair. First diffusing minimizes frizz, Secondly it helps to give your hair maximum shine, thirdly it gives a better definition of your curl pattern. The fourth reason diffusing benefits your hair is that it gives you a whole lot of volume more so than letting your hair air dry or using a regular hand-held dryer. Lastly, diffusing is less damaging to your hair.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO DIFF– USE YOUR HAIR?
Diffusing your natural hair simply means to dry your hair with a device that circulates air evenly throughout your tresses and helps to lock in your natural curl pattern. The device is attached to your handheld dryer. You can purchase a diffuser at your local beauty supply store as a separate attachment. The other option is to purchase a hand-held dryer that comes with this attachment. I purchased a dryer this year with that attachment. HOW DO YOU DIFF– USE YOUR HAIR?
To diffuse your hair you simply take the attachment and twist it on the head of the hand-held dryer. After you have attached the diffuser, then you simply turn the dryer on either low or medium heat and move it around your head in a circular motion with your head tilted to one side. Continue this process around your head.
When diffusing the front of your hair hold your head upside down and diffuse. Once you have diffuse your hair, you want to add the cool shot. The cool shot is a feature on your hand-held dryer that will give your hair a boost of cool air. The cool shot will seal in the moisture. Most cases you want to diffuse your hair to the point that it is 80 percent dry. When done you would allow your hair to air dry the rest of the day. Afterwards you have a full voluminous set of defined curls.
