Hair Care Wash Routine
SHAMPOO
Shampooing your natural hair is important to keep your hair healthy. Your routine should consist of a pre-poo and a moisturizing sulfate, paraben free shampoo. A pre-poo prepares your hair to be shampooed. It acts as a shield from the dryness a typical shampoo can bring to your hair. It can consist of an oil or a conditioner, or a mix of oils and conditioner. Henceforward your pre-poo should be whatever your hair is more responsive too. Sulfates and parabens are abrasive chemicals that can strip essential oils from your hair. Therefore look for products that indicate that they are sulfate and paraben free.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU SHAMPOO YOUR HAIR?
It is recommended that at a minimum you shampoo your hair monthly. The other weeks it is optionable for you to co-wash your hair with a conditioner. Co-washing is simply washing your hair with a conditioner or a product that is specifically designed to for co-washing. Everyone’s hair is different, so you ultimately decide how often you should wash your hair. Always follow up with a deep conditioner after washing your hair. This will instill the moisture in your hair. A person with low porosity hair as myself, deep conditions my natural hair under a hooded dryer. I then follow up with a leave-in conditioner then apply my styler. This may seem like a lot of work but the results are a healthy well-conditioned set of hair.
